Our Story

Our journey began on February 19, 2001, when we started as a sub-county intervention known as “Rwanyamahembe Village Trust Ltd.” Eight visionary founders, including Late Karuhanga Daaki S, Mr. Mwebaze Moses Kabunduguza, Hon. Capt/B Tumusiime, Mr. Bacondooza Wilson, Mrs. Jenifer Tumuhairwe, Dr. Bareeba FB, and Mrs. Alice Kebirungi, among others, initiated this noble endeavor with only 18 shares

Conversion to a Cooperative Society:

Our commitment to providing accessible and affordable financial services to our community led to significant growth. On April 11, 2007, we transitioned into a cooperative society and were officially registered as the “Rwanyamahembe Co-operative Savings and Credit Society Limited” with Registration Certificate No. 8279/RCS.

Our Expanding Reach

Initially envisioned to serve the Rwanyamahembe sub-county community, our dedication to filling the gap of adequate and affordable financial services attracted individuals from neighboring districts such as Mbarara, Rwampara, Isingiro, Sheema, Ibanda, Kazo, Buhweju, and Kiruhura.

Today, Rwanyamahembe SACCO proudly serves communities across ten districts in western Uganda, including Mbarara, Kiruhura, Kazo, Ibanda, Sheema, Buhweju, Rwampara, Kamwenge, Greater Bushenyi, and Isingiro.
